Screencast

Description:
For this assignment, we had to identify content related to our virtual class that could be taught through a screencast. A screencast incorporates audio and video to tech a process to others. Once we decided what our screencast was going to be on, we had to explore screencasting applications, and use one to create our own screencast.

Analysis:
When I first began this assignment, I wasn’t sure in which direction I wanted to go. I decided to complete a screencast that would walk my students through the process of completing a webquest. My virtual class is centered around a Social Studies lesson on The Constitution. As a culminating activity, the students will work collaboratively to complete a webquest. The screencast I have created will walk them through that process.

Reflection:
I had trouble getting started with this screencast when I was unable to download the necessary software. After exploring further I downloaded a program called Camtasia. This software offered a 30-day trial to create screencasts. Once I explored the program, I was very eager to create my screencast. I wasn’t sure at first how it was going to work, between recording the video and the audio, but I was excited about my rogress as I got going. I quickly learned how to zoom in and out, and add effects to the bideo. I enjoyed this project and hope to create more screencasts in the future to use in my classroom.
